Seaside: Ostuni
The seacoast of Ostuni is long around 20 Kms.
The shore of Ostuni is formed by dunes and sandy beaches that are alternated
with inlets, creeks and rocky ravines covered by the Mediterranean flora.
The whole coast of Ostuni is vivacious but above all variegated and not only
from the landscape point of view.
The beaches of Ostuni
Among the most interesting shores in the sea zone of Ostuni we must remeber:
Beach Morelli, il Pilone, Rosa Marina, Monticelli with ruins from the bronze
age; a continuous views of beaches with dunes and Mediterranean flora.
Villanova with the port, interesting point of landing for fishermen and boats:
all is dominated by a castle, a small fortress of the XVI century.
Gorgognolo, Costa Merlata, Santa Lucia, Tower Pozzella, with a Tower of XVI
century, La Maforca ... a line of jagged coast where the sea penetrates forming
protected sandy creeks from a low bluff.
Towers and Marine Reserves
And at the confinements ... just after few meters, half mile away from the
Angioina tower of the XIII century, erect for defence from the Saracens, there
is the XVI century tower of Santa Sabina.
But the lovers of the sea and nature will find the kingdom in the public
Natural Reserve and Marine Reserve of Torre Guaceto: here the botanical variety
and the great quantity of fish kind reigns.
